Brighton-based printing facility Fishprint has been recognised for its commitment to the environment at the Premier's Sustainability Awards 2008, through using waterless printing technologies and reducing its carbon footprint across all areas of operations.
Fishprint, which was nominated in the small business category at the awards in April produces print on a five-colour printing press, using the waterless printing technology which completely eliminates the use of water by 100 per cent. The business has also eliminated the use of toxics in its printing process, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 99 per cent and increased recycling of plastic packaging and ink containers by 100 per cent.
Peter Booth, Fishprint director says, "Our aim is to be at the forefront of greener printing processes within the industry. The nomination for this prestigious award is a welcome recognition for all our work towards becoming a sustainable business."
Booth says, "Our biggest environmental achievements include saving 129 tonnes of greenhouse gases through our renewable energy source, and saving more than 10 tonnes of paper per annum, the equivalent of 225 trees, from our 20 per cent reduction in paper consumption on printing processes."
The Premier's Sustainability Awards recognise Victorian businesses, community groups, individuals and public bodies that are reducing their environmental footprint and using resources in innovative ways.
Gavin Jennings, Environment and Climate Change Minister says, "The Premier's Sustainability Awards aim to encourage and reward excellence and innovation in reducing our environmental footprint while creating economic and social benefits." . Read the full article... |
